When life has been busy it feels so good to hunker down with loved ones. Personally, even with the best of intentions if I do this from home it gets derailed by laundry… it’s like if you give a mouse a cookie but with a mom and “free time” in her own home. If you let mom start some laundry, she will want to fold it too, and if she irons the laundry she will remember she needs to empty the dishwasher, and when she puts that Tupperware away she will realize that cabinet needs to be cleaned out…
A little staycation can put you in the moment with your most special people.
We decided on the Marriott Singer Island. We headed over early to enjoy the whole day. The front desk team and concierge were so welcoming and accommodating, they had us situated and scheduled for all things KIDS CLUB (Yes! Are there any sweeter words for a parent to hear on vacation).
It was a beautiful day so we enjoyed the family pool with a super fun but not scary slide and beach entrance. The kids club had face painting, sand art, crafts and more scattered through the day.  After a yummy tiki bar lunch we headed for the beach.  Not to sound terrible, but I am not a beach fan.  BUT – when I don’t have to carry down chairs or an umbrella, when we don’t have to get into a hot car covered in sand afterwards – that is a beach day I can enjoy.  Afterwards it was a quick rinse and up too the ocean front pool.  Ok, maybe I am a beach person if this is the case.
Headed upstairs for a bubble bath in the giant tub then down for an early dinner at heir beautiful ocean front  restaurant 3800 Ocean.  We actually saw a rainbow over the ocean!  Debated letting the kids enjoy the Kids Club (in addition to day activities, nightly babysitting is available  Thursday- Sunday 6-10pm) but ended up including them at dinner. Afterwards we checked out the deck games like ping pong, foosball, and giant 4-to-score game. The Kids Club has a lending library so we borrowed a game and a movie… BUT they passed out as soon as we got up to the room. Thanks waterslide!
The room was perfect. We could have stayed for a week. We had a two bedroom suite 1613. The view was stunning looking from intracoastal to ocean. So incredible to see the beautiful place we call home 16 floors up. The room itself had laundry, nice size kitchen with full size fridge, toaster, cook top and microwave. The living room had a comfy pull out sofa and TV that you can use Netflix etc on. The master bed was comfy, has a great bathroom with shower and oversize tub and had the same wifi enable TV system.  The kids room has its own bath (with a tub and a shower) and two double beds.
Got up early for a quick workout – the gym was nothing crazy but certainly got the job done. Considered a quick jog on the beach but.. Breakfast was included in our room rate and was offered back at 3800 Ocean. Room service was available but the kids were anxious to get back to the pool slide.
Then….. the hubs surprised me with a day at the spa.  Immediate reaction was oh my goodness that will be so nice mixed with oh gosh mom guilt I came here to spend time with my peeps… Oh my gosh won out knowing we had such quality time the day before and they would be building sandcastles, getting their faces painted, and making laps on the slide not missing me at all. So, I settled right into that relaxation room with a book and some tea. Oh, and the massage was phenomenal. The spa offers a sauna, whirlpool and steam room. They do have a couples massage room!
Even though we did have to check out of our room they made it easy to stay by giving us pool wrist bands and a temporary room card to access the resort for the day.
We will absolutely be back – the kids are already asking.
