SUMMARY:Ndlovu Youth Choir
DESCRIPTION:NDLOVU YOUTH CHOIR \nSince its inception in 2009\, the Ndlovu Youth Choir has become one of the world’s most treasured groups. Their unique musical arrangements\, powerhouse vocals\, irresistibly combined with mesmerizing choreography and infectious energy have inspired millions across the globe. \nAn eleven-year journey has seen an after-school programme for orphaned and vulnerable children\, started by the Ndlovu Care Group\, transform into an international recording and touring career. Participation does not only instill values of togetherness\, a work ethic and a sense of responsibility\, but it develops self-discipline\, self-confidence\, and leadership. Through the choir\, choristers gain a global perspective that offers an early pathway to artistic and professional achievement. The choir uses their talents to share their inspirational story with the world through song and dance. \nThe choir’s repertoire is an exciting mix of traditional South African genres with pop\, rock\, jazz and EDM. Their intention to create a fresh and original sound is evident in their ability to take internationally well-known songs – Toto’s “Africa”\, Kygo’s Higher Love\, U2’s “Beautiful Day” and Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” – and move them into an exciting new territory. \nThe Ndlovu Youth Choir’s incredible run on “America’s Got Talent” (Season 14) made them the first choir in the history of either America’s Got Talent or Britain’s Got Talent to reach the final. Their soul-stirring performances won hearts and minds around the world. After their final AGT performance\, legendary music producer and record executive Simon Cowell labelled the performance ‘The best final I have ever sat on in my life’. He went on to sign the choir and together with SYCO and Sony Music they released their first album\, which debuted at number one on iTunes. \nAs the Ndlovu Youth Choir’s meteoric rise continues\, they strive to push the creative boundaries of song and dance to reach and touch audiences of all ages across the globe. Their high-energy performances have thrilled audiences worldwide and have shared a message of hope\, love and togetherness. \nNdlovu Youth Choir is a Kravis Center PEAK Series presentation\, made possible by a grant from the MLDauray Arts Initiative in honor of Leonard and Sophie Davis. \nTickets for Ndlovu Youth Choir in West Palm Beach are $35 -$85*.

Oscillation is free to the public and reservations are not required. \nOscillation builds upon the Kravis Center’s objective to amplify connecting communities through the arts and technology by continuing to welcome everyone to experience unique ways of gathering at and engaging with the campus for free and open to all. Recent community activities include the Kravis Center’s first Block Party this past October\, as well as ongoing weekly programs\, such as the dynamic “Live & Social” outdoor concert series on the Kravis Family Plaza\, and the stunning photography exhibition\, Carasmatic: Through the Lens of a Dancer\, located on the second floor of the Cohen Pavilion. \n“We are thrilled that Oscillation is arriving just in time for the holiday season. This wonderful installation truly captures the spirit of the Kravis Center as the place for inclusive\, creative and stimulating experiences\,“ said Georgiana Young\, Vice President of Marketing and Programming. \n  \nOscillation is an interactive touring installation that uses sight\, sound\, and movement to spark spontaneous community activity and social interaction through open-ended play. The installation reacts similarly to a Theremin\, a musical instrument that you can play with movement without touching. \n“It doesn’t take any skill to play the pieces\, just some subtle movements. As you walk toward the pieces\, they play different sounds and pitches depending on your distance from them. When you move and dance around them\, they also reflect and refract light in different ways revealing different colors and filtered reflections based on the angle it is viewed\,” said Ryan Swanson of The Urban Conga. “When designing Oscillation\, we wanted to create a piece that would have a similar but different identity during the day and at night. During the day\, the pieces reflect the surrounding environment and often become the perfect Instagram backdrop\, and then at night\, the pieces illuminate from within and cast a splash of changing colors within the surrounding space.” \n“The crystal-like structures begin to disrupt the once static spaces with a moment of open-ended playful activity. The result is a totally immersive experience that breaks down social barriers and fuels joyful conversations between strangers. Oscillation isn’t just about sparking an interaction between the person and the piece\, but also sparking connections between people\,” remarked Maeghann Coleman of The Urban Congo. \nAbout The Urban Conga: \nThe Urban Conga is a Brooklyn\, NY-based award-winning multidisciplinary design studio led by Ryan Swanson and Maeghann Coleman\, AIA. The studio is comprised of a diverse group of creatives focused on sparking community interaction and social activity through open-ended play. They achieve this by utilizing play methodologies as a critical tool implemented not just in the work itself but in the participatory design process in which the work is created. Their work explores the idea of working with clients to create more playable cities as an ecosystem of inclusive multiscale playable opportunities intertwined with our existing urban fabric.
