Name: Trisha Scalera
Where did you grow up:
Yonkers, New York (AKA Westchester)
Town you live in now:
Jupiter, Florida
Why you love living there:
The weather for one, growing up in NY winters this is definitely better! It’s where I have raised my children and made life long friends, my family is here! My brother is a Jupiter cop, my mom lives close, Jupiter gives a hometown feeling!
Tell me about your kids:
1. Melissa is my oldest, she is 20 y/o. She grew up at All Saints and then graduated from Jupiter High School, and now she is about to graduate from the Culinary Institute of America. She’s my most outgoing, fun loving, crazy 20 year old. And together we do lots of activities and work here in Palm Beach.
2. Nick is my middle child, and only boy. He is 18 years old and also attended All Saints, graduated from Jupiter Christian and is now attending Liberty University. He is definitely my most spiritual, athletic, and caring child. He’s played football all throughout high school and is currently trying out for Liberty’s football team. He’s definitely a mamas boy!
3. Olivia is my youngest, she is 12 years old and currently attends Jupiter Christian. She is the fiestiest of my children with a big heart and pure love for animals. She is my baby.
Favorite things to do with the kids locally:
We love to go out to eat as a family so trying new restaurants is a favorite. We like going bowling, traveling (staycations right now), and relaxing my the water!
What’s your ‘day job’? How did you get started with it?
Which one? My love for owning my own business started back in 2009 when my girlfriend and I established Initial Styles. After selling that in 2015 I moved on to working at Teapots and Treasures as a waitress. I then fell in love with the atmosphere and the quaintness of a local Teahouse in our area. I was given the opportunity to purchase Teapots and Treasures in 2020, in the middle of a pandemic and made the decision to go along with the purchase because I could not see such a treasure close down. Looking back over the last 7 months I have fallen harder for the business and what it stands for which is a quality experience with a comfortable, relaxed, yet elegant atmosphere that pays homage to the age old art of High Tea. We truly strive to make people feel like royalty.
What is your best parenting advice. Lay it on us.
Hold on loosely but don’t let go.
What do you do for self care?
My general idea of self care is my good old skin care and hair care routine. But the girls and I like to do our face masks, hit the foot spa, and the nail salon.
Anything else you want to share?
I would love to highlight the amazing crew we have at Teapots and Treasures and the immense creativity that comes through each and everyone of them. I love my down time but my passion is being in the kitchen!
