Palm Beach County has 49 Charter Schools detailed here. Charter Schools are tuition-free public schools which operate under a performance contract or “charter” agreement between a governing board and the local public school board. Charters are independent public schools of choice that hire their own teachers, design their own academic programs, and control their own finances. They have more flexibility to innovate and provide a unique curriculum, while remaining accountable for advancing student achievement.

Magnet schools are public schools with a particular theme or academic focus, such as mathematics, science, technology, business, or performing arts. They provide parents and students with the option of choosing a school that matches a student’s interests. Magnet schools offer students specialized programs and create innovative learning approaches in a diverse environment. Some popular focuses locally are medical, performing arts, International Baccalaureate and more.
