Name: Mela Vargas

Where did you grow up: I grew up in Miami, New York and Palm Beach!

Town you live in now: Hobe Sound

Why you love living there: We live close to the beach and the cutest little coffee shops!

Tell me about your kids: I have a sweet 15 month old boy who is already trying to surf and skateboard ha! We named him Gabriel after the arch Angel and meaning God is my strength.

Favorite things to do with the kids locally: We love to visit the children’s museum in Stuart and the Loggerhead Marinelife center in Juno to visit our fish and turtle friends. Indoors is key during the summer.

What’s your ‘day job’? How did you get started with it? My day job is multi-tasking. No but really, I own a creative agency where we do social media marketing, Influencer relations and content creation for unique brands. I started by quitting my 9-5 job with Greg Norman. It was an amazing job but I realized I wanted to do something for ME by ME. I didn’t know what I was going to do to be honest but I knew I had to start before we had children. I began with wedding planning and some small events, then started managing the Instagram account and events of a popular local coffee shop – from there my company started flourishing into what is it now.

What is your best parenting advice. Lay it on us. Do what’s best for YOU and your family. Everyone will have an opinion about what’s best for your child but nobody will ever love them like you do. And I actually am taking advice on 15 month olds going on 2 yrs old 🥴 Send my way!

What do you do for self care? Honestly I’m working on that. Being a new mom has been a journey for me and I’m still learning to make time for myself. I think the best I’ve done is ask for help when I just need a break. Andddd I love a good spa day when possible.

Karaoke – what are you singing? Okay, I did musicals growing up and music is my bestie so I’m always singing something! But right now, my baby loves Moana – so “your welcome” is unfortunately the song on repeat.
