Name: Hallie Rosenthal
Where did you grow up: Bloomfield Hills, MI
Town you live in now: Palm Beach, FL and Wyckoff, NJ
Why you love living there: I’ve had a life in Palm Beach since I was a child. I love that even with all the changes that Palm Beach has gone through, it’s the only place that currently feels like home to me anymore. I can always count on the beauty and the magic of the Island to get me through anything that is happening in other places of my life. Plus there is literally something pretty on every corner and you can’t find that anyplace else.
Tell me about your kids: I have a 6 year old son named Ryder who’s heart is as big as his smile. He’s a friend to all ages and he’s compassionate and caring to all of his friends and family. He’s an excellent athlete and excels at soccer, golf and tennis. He loves school and he is constantly trying to learn new things.
Favorite things to do with the family locally: Ryder loves mini golf so we definitely make the rounds to all the mini golf courses in the area. We spend a ton of time at the West Palm Beach
Science Center and Aquarium. There is a new mini golf course out back. He loves to play a couple rounds of golf and then we visit the fish and the various interactive exhibits within the science center. It’s a great one stop shop for a few hours of activity and entertainment. We also spend a ton of time on the beach tossing the football and making sand castles!
Best family restaurant: The Restaurant at
The Colony Hotel is definitely one of our favorite family hang outs. The new owners have younger children and this past year they made the restaurant completely kid friendly. They have a huge children’s menu and they added some corn hole boards to the lawn area out by the pool so there is an activity in addition to great food for everyone! Ryder will also tell anyone that asks that he loves to eat at
Avocado Grill – they have the best noodles and at the Leopard Lounge at the
Chesterfield Hotel. He thinks their chicken fingers are A+, but I think it’s because they have a help yourself candy bar when you walk into the restaurant and chocolate chip cookies in the lobby!
Ideal family vacation spot and why: Palm Beach Obviously! We try to spend as much time in our second home as possible. We are steps from the beach and closer to our family. We love the slower pace that our Florida life offers. We’ve been fortunate enough to make some very good friends during our times in town and of course all of our northern friends come to visit when we’re there too!
What’s your ‘day job’? I am the Buyer and Operations Manager for Rapunzel’s Closet in Palm Beach. I’m going to be entering my 12th season with Rapunzel’s and I still love my job today as much as I did day one. I’ve worked from a home office for years up North and have had the flexibility to take my family back and forth to Palm Beach over the years. What I love about Rapunzel’s is that it’s really a great family business. I grew up in my family business and working at Rapunzel’s is such a homey feeling for me. I also have an amateur Food Instagram account (@hallie_rosenthal). I love cooking and eating out. It’s so much fun being an influencer in the kitchen and around town! Most of my images are from my kitchen, Palm Beach restaurants and NYC restaurants. One of these days I’ll find time to actually blog about everything, but until then I will just keep posting pictures!
What is something that makes your life easier/better/more fun? Having a career that I love and a kid who is so easy going makes my life easy. Ryder is so well adjusted even with me being on the road all winter. He takes everything handed to him in stride and he’s at a really fun age where we can actually spend real quality time together no matter where we are. If I’m being completely honest – him being able to buckle his own seatbelt in the car seat booster has been a game changer for me too. It’s really the little things!
How do you balance your ‘day job’ and motherhood? I’m fortunate enough to have a job that allows me to work from home most of the time. I’m never in a rush to commute anywhere so I’m always home in the morning when Ryder is having breakfast and leaving for school. My day finishes up shortly after he gets home from school. I spend a few hours on the weekends doing meal prep for the week, so I’m not rushing to prepare dinner and I can attend his after school sports and be a soccer mom for an hour or two a week.
Who inspires you and why? Mostly my kid. He’s the reason that I get out of bed every morning with a positive attitude and a smile on my face. He’s always happy and definitely views the world through rose colored glasses, but that’s what I love about him. He’s so innocent. But my mom friends are also an inspiration. I learn little bits and pieces about parenting from every mom that I meet and I think that’s helped shape me into the kind of mom that I am!
What do you do for self care? I go for weekly hour long foot and leg massages. When I’m in town I love Ocean Breezes on PGA. It’s a great way to unwind and relax for an hour. If I’m tired or cranky it always refreshes me. I also try to work out at least 5 days a week whether it’s going for a run to clear my head or just doing a quick 20 minute HIIT workout at home.
What did you wish you knew but no one told you about being a parent? No one told me how much I would learn from my child. He’s a wealth of information on a daily basis and a constantly teaching me about tolerance. He really enjoys life and I’ve definitely learned to view things from his world. There is always a silver lining when you are 6!
