Name:
Amanda Mintz
Where did you grow up:
Trumbull, CT
Town you live in now:
We currently live in Boca Raton, FL. We relocated to South Florida from Connecticut in 2017 when my youngest, Lucas Mintz was only a few months old and my oldest, Jason Mintz Jr. was three years old.
Why you love living there:
I love living in Boca for its beauty, stunning beaches, abundant family-friendly/outdoor activities, and lifestyle. The fantastic parks, excellent schools, and a sense of safety enhance our living experience. There’s great shopping and restaurants, and being close to Downtown Delray Beach makes me happy.
Tell me about your kids:
My son Lucas, at six, shines with his strong will, bringing light to all around him. Jason Jr., nine, is empathetic with a healing demeanor. Both well-rounded. They are smart, artistic, and funny, enjoying sports, gardening, arts and crafts, being in nature, fishing, baking, being with animals, socializing, yoga, and playing instruments. They understand positive self-talk, intention-setting, hard work, kindness, and honesty. Both actively contribute to my yoga business, assisting in classes, joining yoga camps, and participating in kids’ yoga workshops. Also, they enjoy assisting my husband, Jason Mintz Sr., with his rare coins and collectibles company.
Favorite things to do with the kids locally:
We love a variety of local activities: beach days at Spanish River Beach, exploring parks like Sugar Sand and Patch Reef, fishing, biking on El Rio Trail, snorkeling at Red Reef Beach, and playing soccer at Spanish River athletic park. Our favorites include playgrounds, beach sunrises, and enjoying meals in Mizner.
What’s your ‘day job’? How did you get started with it?
I work as a certified yoga instructor, with a focus on kids and family yoga. My journey began in high school, and after consistent practice, I obtained my certification during the COVID era. Witnessing the increased need for mental well-being in families post-isolation and distance learning, I felt a calling to share my practice. Since becoming licensed and insured, I’ve dedicated myself full-time to teaching yoga to kids and families. In 2021, I founded Boca Kids Yoga, a venture through which I’ve been passionately teaching yoga classes, leading workshops, and organizing events tailored for kids and families. It’s been a fulfilling journey dedicated to spreading the joy and benefits of yoga to my community.
What is your best parenting advice. Lay it on us.
Embrace the power of positive mindset in parenting. See the best in your kids, think positively, and speak positive affirmations aloud. Remember, even as children, they navigate an overwhelming world; be patient and show kindness. Stay present, play actively, and seek their smiles. Ask questions like ‘What makes you feel most loved?’ to deepen connection. It’s not about buying things; play is the language of children.
What do you do for self care?
I prioritize self-care through daily yoga, journaling, and indulging in at-home Self-Care Sundays. My Sunday ritual involves sunrise beach yoga, decluttering my home, painting my nails, deep conditioning my hair, and refreshing my skin with an exfoliating face scrub.
Karaoke – what are you singing?
‘Unstoppable’ by Sia—it’s my go-to girl power anthem, and it brings out my inner strength and confidence.
