Name: Hidemi Fallon
Where did you grow up: Los Angeles, CA
Town you live in now: Palm Beach, FL
Why you love living there: It’s easy, safe and beautiful and my kids are thriving here- well not in August when they’re melting and complaining but thriving any other time.
Tell me about your kids: Ena, age 7, goes to Palm Beach Public. She’s kind, empathic and is always thinking about others. I worry about her at times because she’s such a kind soul but I think as parents, we’re always worrying. Richard, almost 3 is a typical boy. He does karate and thinks he’s a T-rex. He’s loving, affectionate and intuitive. I love being their mom.
Favorite things to do with the kids locally: Pool time, pool time and more pool time. Our kids love the water. We eat out regularly with our kids; Buccan being my daughter’s favorite restaurant in town. The team at Buccan have become family- we’re there a few nights a week but if you were to ask my daughter what her all time favorite activity is, she’d say going to Target. You can visibly see the dopamine spikes when we’re there…it’s a problem and we don’t go often.
What’s your ‘day job’? Right now, my “work” time is spent as an advisor to The Female Founder Collective and Women Founder’s Network- I’m passionate about the female entrepreneur and it’s been rewarding to be a part of both organizations. The majority of my career was in retail- I started my retail career in marketing at lululemon athletica and ended my career in retail as the GM of USA at Aritzia. The last 5 years, I was a partner at a venture capital firm where we focused on the Retail, Health & Wellness and the Medical Cannabis/Psychedelic space. Since moving to Palm Beach a year ago, my energy’s been spent being a mother and I’ve loved every moment- my favorite way to spend time is volunteering at my daughter’s school- right now, not much makes me happier. Lately, I’ve been getting the itch to re-engage my career so I’m exploring what that looks like. A lot to think about.
What is your best parenting advice. Lay it on us. Oh gosh, I am in no position to give any advice, let alone on parenting but I’ll share something that’s important to me. The gift that I am giving to my kids is working through all of my stuff so I’m not passing down any unnecessary trauma that they will eventually have to work through themselves. My wish for my kids is to be self-aware, grounded, have purpose, hold themselves in esteem, add value to their relationships, be productive and be loyal to themselves and to their values and the only way I know how to lead them down that path, is for me to be all of those things…so I’m in a constant state of evolution, reset and growth.
What do you do for self care? Wellsoul Workshops, Yoga with Chelsea Gage at Yoga Path and work with Kasey Crown…and quality time with people that restore me energetically. When all of these areas are activated, I’m feeling pretty good.
Karaoke – what are you singing? I can mimic Britney Spears and Jewel’s voice pretty well.
