DESCRIPTION:May 11th – Eerie Erosion & Living Shorelines \nJoin our Scientist Sam for different science activities!\nAges 13-17 \nThis lesson will focus on the eerie effects of erosion to our shores and coastlines and discuss ways to mitigate erosion damage. The class will be looking as sites where erosion is a big issue and areas where living shorelines were installed to reduce erosion damage. Students will take part in erosion demos\, pot mangroves\, and take home an erosion experiment. This is an off-site program. Closed-toe shoes and water bottle are required. \nThere is no cost for this program but please RSVP to attend. SUMMARY:Little Otters
DESCRIPTION:Beat the summer heat and get in the water with your little one! \nJoin us once a month throughout the summer at the Nature Conservancy’s Blowing Rocks Preserve (574 S Beach Rd\, Hobe Sound\, FL 33455). We will meet outside the visitors’ center on the lagoon side (west side). The River Center will provide dip nets and sand toys. We’ll search for urchins\, conchs\, and crabs while enjoying the natural beauty around us. \nAdults and children should come prepared to be in the water for an hour. This includes closed toe water shoes\, sunscreen\, hats\, and water bottles. Adults will be responsible for their children during this program. \nLimited to 15 children (+ their accompanying adults). Siblings of all ages are welcome\, just include them in your registration! This program is free of charge. \nPlease RSVP to attend. \nLittle Otters
