DESCRIPTION:Hurricane season starts June 1. Is your family ready? Join the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS)\, Florida International University’s (FIU) International Hurricane Research Center (IHRC) and the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) on June 1\, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.\, for “Eye of the Storm\,” an electrifying all-ages day of education\, Museum exploration and weather preparedness. Admission to MODS is free this day. \nAs part of the “Eye of the Storm” event\, MODS will offer a variety of interactive family friendly activities including: \n• Presentations and Demonstrations by Hurricane Experts\n• IHPA Air Cannon Missile Demonstrations\n• FIU Wind Engineering\n• NOAA Hurricane Hunters\n• Live Weather Theater Shows\n• Local TV Meteorologists\n• A Kids Zone\n• MODS Weather Science Demos and All-Day Museum Exploration\n• Emergency Vehicle “Touch a Truck” and Meet & Greet with South\nFlorida First Responders \n“Eye of the Storm” is generously sponsored by the Broward County Cultural Division\, City of Fort Lauderdale Emergency Management\, FPL\, International Hurricane Protection Association and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)\, U.S. Department of Commerce. \nExperience South Florida’s award-winning attraction featuring 150\,000 square feet of dynamic science exhibits\, an outdoor science park\, a live animal collection\, a rotating schedule of science shows\, learning labs\, café\, store and a grand atrium featuring the Great Gravity Clock\, a 52-foot-tall kinetic energy sculpture; the largest clock in Florida.
