Admission and parking are free. \nGuests can test their skills at chess\, pétanque and other games.\nOther main events include an Around the World theme in two 30-minute Spotlight Tours of art and an opportunity to create art in Open Studio. \nThe South Florida Pétanque Club and the Palm Beach Chess Club will offer sessions on the basics and the finer points of the games and there will be a martial arts performance by Capoeira Karkara Cultural Arts Center of Boynton Beach. \n“Games Around the World is a chance for our community to connect and experience traditions and cultures from all over the world\,” said Ghislain d’Humières\, the Norton’s Kenneth C. DESCRIPTION:Beat the summer heat and get in the water with your little one! \nJoin us once a month throughout the summer at the Nature Conservancy’s Blowing Rocks Preserve (574 S Beach Rd\, Hobe Sound\, FL 33455). We will meet outside the visitors’ center on the lagoon side (west side). The River Center will provide dip nets and sand toys. We’ll search for urchins\, conchs\, and crabs while enjoying the natural beauty around us. \nThis event is for ages 2 thru 6. Adults and children should come prepared to be in the water for an hour. This includes closed toe water shoes\, sunscreen\, hats\, and water bottles. Adults will be responsible for their children during this program. \nLimited to 20 children (+ their accompanying adults). DESCRIPTION:The Hatchling Release program at Loggerhead Marinelife Center is a unique experience that allows our visitors to learn about sea turtles and their hatching process. \nDuration\n2 Hours \nAbout\nThe program begins with an educational lesson about sea turtles and their nesting behavior and concludes with a walk to Juno Beach to view hatchlings being released by LMC staff. \nWill we see a nest hatch?\nWe cannot predict when nests will hatch. We will be releasing hatchlings that have recently hatched and been excavated by our research staff. \nHow does the program work?\nThe Hatchling Release program begins with an informative presentation about sea turtles and hatchlings. The evening concludes with a trip to the beach to view hatchlings being released to the ocean. \nAre we guaranteed to see hatchlings being released?\nThe hatchlings we are releasing come from nests excavated earlier in the day by our research team. The number of nests being excavated\, species of the nests and number of hatchlings found in the nest varies by day\, so we cannot guarantee hatchlings every single night. Though we cannot offer refunds\, all ticket sales directly benefit Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s mission and the care of our sea turtle patients. \nWill we get to touch a sea turtle?\nNo\, only staff on our permit are allowed to touch the sea turtle hatchlings. \nCan I bring a flashlight?\nSorry\, flashlights are not permitted. \nCan I take pictures?\nWe do not permit photography of any form throughout the program. \nMore Info\n\nChildren must be 10 years or older to attend a hatchling release\, and all participants must be able to walk up to half a mile on the beach.\nWe run our program rain or shine and only stay off the beach in the event of lightning. During this waiting period\, guests will be onsite enjoying their presentation. We do not cancel the program due to inclement weather. If the forecast calls for rain\, we recommend guests wear raincoats or ponchos. There are no refunds on tickets.\n\nWhat to Wear\n\nDark clothing is preferred to minimize the impact on nesting sea turtles. Bug spray and comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended.\nWhat if it’s raining? We run our program rain or shine and only stay off the beach in the event of lightning. During this waiting period\, guests will be onsite enjoying their presentation. We do not cancel the program due to inclement weather.
