SUMMARY:The Blue Angels at the AutoNation® IMAX® 3D Theater at the Museum of Discovery and Science
DESCRIPTION:The Blue Angels have been enthralling spectators across the country and around the globe for more than 75 years. Now\, IMAX Entertainment proudly presents a thrilling new abridged version of the documentary The Blue Angels taking audiences soaring with the Navy’s elite Flight Demonstration Squadron as never before. Opening January 17 at the AutoNation® IMAX® 3D Theater at the Museum of Discovery and Science\, the Filmed For IMAX® immersive footage puts viewers directly into the cockpit for a firsthand view of the Blue Angels’ precision flying\, while the aerial shots deliver a spectacular showcase of the breathtaking maneuvers that have made them the world’s premier jet team.\nThe Blue Angels also takes audiences behind-the-scenes for a revealing\, in-depth look at what it takes to become a Blue Angel – from the careful selection process to the challenging training regimen\, and on through the demanding eight-month show season.\nThe filmmakers behind The Blue Angels were granted unprecedented access – on the ground and in the air – to invite audiences along\, from the first days of rigorous training through to the final show and the passing of the torch to a new team. But even as the documentary lifts the veil of the Blue Angels mystique\, it only magnifies the magic.\nThe film is a fitting tribute to the extraordinary teamwork\, passion and pride of the hundreds of outstanding men and women of the Navy and Marine Corps who have had the honor to serve in the Blue Angels squadron…past and present.\nThe Blue Angels was directed by Paul Crowder and produced by Glen Powell\, Sean Stuart\, Glen Zipper\, Mark Monroe\, J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella. John Turner\, Bill O’Dowd\, Emerson Davis\, Rob Stone and Greg Wooldridge served as executive producers\, with Maren Domzalski and Bridget Topp co-producing.\nThe Blue Angels is a Bad Robot\, Zipper Bros Films\, IMAX Entertainment and Dolphin Films Production\, in association with Amazon MGM Studios\, Sutter Road Picture Company\, Diamond Docs and Barnstorm Productions. The film runs 45 minutes.\nThe AutoNation® IMAX® Theater at the Museum of Discovery and Science is located at 401 SW 2nd Street in Fort Lauderdale. The Blue Angels is included in the MODS Discovery Pass\, an all-in-one ticket that includes Museum exhibitions\, live science demonstrations and one IMAX documentary film. \nFor tickets\, please visit mods.org/tickets and for showtimes\, please visit mods.org/showtimes.

SUMMARY:Sprint into Spring Training 5K Run/Walk
DESCRIPTION:All ages and fitness levels are invited to lace up their sneakers to enjoy a one-of-a-kind 5K run/walk as Junior League of the Palm Beaches hosts its 2nd annual “Sprint into Spring Training\,” featuring the rare chance to traverse the fields of two Major League Baseball (MLB) teams: the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals\, which both hold their spring training at CACTI Park. Held Saturday\, February 1\, 2025\, this 5K is the only opportunity to run through all of the fields at the expansive complex\, formerly The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches. \nThe 5K is open to runners and walkers\, including those who’d like to run with strollers. Children will especially enjoy the kids’ 100-yard dash race\, which concludes with a thrilling sprint to home plate. \nAdding to this home run of an experience\, the top overall winners for men and women will earn the extraordinary opportunity to throw out a first pitch at an MLB Spring Training game. \nSprint into Spring Training supports the nonprofit’s community service focused around literacy\, healthcare\, children’s services and overall work to make a lasting positive impact in the community\, while providing leadership development and training for members. The nearly 85-yearold organization is completely volunteer led. \nThe 5K begins at 8 a.m. and the kids dash at 9 a.m. The awards ceremony is at 10 am. Race day packet pickup as well as any same-day registration runs from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m. Sponsorship opportunities are available. The 5K\, in person or virtual\, is $40\, and the Little Leagues 100-yard dash is $25; rates increase after January 13. To register and for more information\, visit jlpb.org/sprint-into-spring-training-5k/.

SUMMARY:History Fort Lauderdale’s 28th Annual History Makers Fundraiser Honoring The Miller Construction Family
DESCRIPTION:History Fort Lauderdale\, proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors\, will honor The Miller Family of Miller Construction Company during its 28th annual History Makers fundraiser set for Thursday\, February 6\, from 6 – 8 p.m. This yearly special event\, taking place at Galleria Fort Lauderdale (2414 East Sunrise Blvd.)\, recognizes individuals and companies who have made significant contributions to the growth of the City of Fort Lauderdale. \nFlorida natives Thomas J. Miller and Harley W. Miller established Miller Construction Company in 1973. Since then\, through a combination of determination\, commitment\, progressive foresight and creative planning\, Miller Construction has completed more than 600 impactful commercial projects for the private sector in Florida\, including office buildings\, industrial\, manufacturing & distribution hubs\, automotive\, retail\, healthcare\, higher education\, and hospitality that bolstered South Florida’s economic prosperity. Their impactful projects of note include the construction of Lago Mar Hotel & Club\, multiple projects for Holy Cross Hospital over three decades\, the design-build of Airbus Flight Simulator Training Facility\, KOS Pharmaceuticals manufacturing and testing facility\, and building two of the nation’s first fully digital TV facilities – WTVJ NBC 6 and WPLG Local10. In 1992\, they were a vital part of the rebirth of and revitalization of Las Olas Blvd with the construction of the award-wining 888 Las Olas Building and expansion of the historic Riverside Hotel and parking garage. A long-standing relationship with South Florida’s top-selling furniture retailer City Furniture led to working on retail showroom construction and renovations from South Miami through Vero Beach\, and in Naples and Fort Myers. In 2013\, Miller Construction completed Nova Southeastern University’s Center of Excellence for Coral Reef Ecosystems Research $200 million facility\, the nation’s only research facility dedicated to coral reef ecosystems. The following year\, the company completed the massive $50 million\, multiphase renovation of the world-class Broward Center for the Performing Arts\, a milestone for Fort Lauderdale’s cultural future. Recently\, Miller Construction completed an innovative\, six-level automated drystack F3 Marina in Fort Lauderdale’s 17th Street Causeway marine district for owner Founders 3. The nation’s second fully automated drystack marina of its kind\, F3 Marina features an automated crane that lifts and stores or retrieves boats as long as 46 feet in under five minutes – a breakthrough for the marine industry \nSince its founding\, Miller Construction Company and its founders have also sought to make a positive\, long-lasting difference in the communities they serve. By building community partnerships and through employees’ own hands-on involvement\, Miller has raised funds for vital causes and nonprofit organizations including American Cancer Society\, Big Brothers Big Sisters\, Boys & Girls Clubs\, Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center\, Coastal Conservation Association\, Habitat For Humanity\, Henderson Behavioral Health\, Holocaust Learning Center\, Junior Achievement\, Lighthouse of Broward\, Pace Center For Girls\, United Way\, Winterfest and many more. The company’s spirit has made Florida a better place to live for many children and families. \nPrevious honorees of the History Makers fundraiser have included notable organizations and individuals such as Galleria Fort Lauderdale\, Kelley Shanley\, Ted Drum and the Drum\, Clark and Cox families\, Denison Yachting\, the Marine Industries Association of South Florida\, the Forman family\, “Alligator Ron” Bergeron\, City Commissioner Steven Glassman\, developer Dev Motwani\, H. Wayne Huizenga\, Chris Evert and Jimmy Evert\, South Florida Sun-Sentinel\, Winterfest\, and Susan and Buddy Lochrie.\nThis event is sponsored by Miller Construction Company\, Rick Case Automotive Group\, Lochrie & Chakas\, P.A.\, Galleria Fort Lauderdale and GPR | Goodman Public Relations.\nTickets for History Fort Lauderdale’s 28th anniversary History Makers fundraiser are $125 each and are available to purchase online at bit.ly/HFLHistoryMakers2025. \nFor event sponsorships or more information about History Fort Lauderdale\, please call (954) 463-4431 or visit historyfortlauderdale.org.
