DESCRIPTION:Palm Beach\, FL – Each year on June 5th the Flagler Museum celebrates its anniversary by opening free of charge for all visitors in honor of the Museum’s founder\, and Henry Flagler’s granddaughter\, Jean Flagler Matthews\, who rescued the estate from potential demolition and established the Museum in 1959. \nOn Thursday\, June 5th\, the Flagler Museum will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Visitors may take a self-guided tour of Whitehall’s first floor\, view the permanent collection of art and objects related to America’s Gilded Age\, and climb aboard Henry Flagler’s personal Railcar No. 91® in the Flagler Kenan Pavilion. (The second floor will be closed due to conservation and restoration projects.) \nClick here to watch a video of a past Founder’s Day \nThe Henry Morrison Flagler Museum \nWhen it was completed in 1902\, Whitehall\, Henry Flagler’s Gilded Age estate in Palm Beach\, was hailed by the New York Herald as “more wonderful than any palace in Europe\, grander and more magnificent than any other private dwelling in the world.” Today\, Whitehall is a National Historic Landmark and is open to the public as the Flagler Museum\, featuring changing exhibitions and special programs. The Museum is located at One Whitehall Way\, Palm Beach\, FL 33480.
