SUMMARY:Shark Kingdom at the AutoNation® IMAX® 3D Theater at the Museum of Discovery and Science
DESCRIPTION:Go nose-to-nose and fin-to-fin with the ocean’s top predators in scenic and remote waters around the world in Shark Kingdom\, a new 3D documentary\, at the AutoNation® IMAX® Theater at the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS)\, the largest screen in South Florida. Follow an all-female cast of shark conservation superwomen Jess Cramp\, Liv Rose and Cristina Zenato as they dive into the kingdom of sharks\, get up-close and personal with these awe-inspiring creatures and uncover their secrets to fight for the future of our shared oceans. From great whites hunting in the wild and windswept seas of New Zealand\, whaler sharks learning to coexist with Australian fishermen\, to elusive oceanic white tip “shipwreck sharks” traversing uncharted depths of the Pacific\, each shark species wields unique survival powers in their distinct environments. \nShark Kingdom is an epic family adventure\, revealing how the ocean’s top predator uses hidden super senses to be a key player in the marine ecosystem. The movie grew from a childhood fascination with sharks from filmmaker\, biologist and diver Matt Tomaszewski\, who spent years filming sharks. \nTomaszewski and the crew traversed the world in search of some of the highest concentrations of sharks: the Maldives\, Tahiti\, the Cook Islands; Lord Howe Island\, the Australian version of Galapagos Islands; even a tiny island deep in the Southern Ocean\, home to great whites. By virtue of having healthy shark populations\, these places are also quite untouched and incredibly photogenic for the giant screen. \nCarrying hundreds of kilos of giant screen filming equipment off the grid is no vacation\, however. Underwater filming is a complex puzzle of weather\, ocean currents and the sharks themselves. Audiences will be treated to the best and most magical moments captured on camera – think seas so clear you can see the clouds from 30 meters below water and being surrounded by more than one hundred sharks swimming peacefully around you. \nThrough the eyes of shark scientists\, divers and even a “shark whisperer\,” audiences will see another side of sharks. The filmmakers hope that the women who study and protect sharks in this film will inspire the young and young-at-heart. \nShark Kingdom is produced by Definition Studios and distributed by K2 Studios. For more information\, visit sharkkingdomfilm.com. \nThe AutoNation® IMAX® Theater at the Museum of Discovery and Science is located at 401 SW 2nd Street in Fort Lauderdale. The film Shark Kingdom is included in the MODS Discovery Pass\, an all-in-one ticket that includes Museum exhibitions\, live science demonstrations and one IMAX® documentary film. SUMMARY:Messy Science Weekends at Museum of Discovery and Science
DESCRIPTION:Get ready to dive into a slimy\, muddy\, ooey-gooey adventure at the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS)! \nUnleash your inner scientist with messy hands-on experiments\, meet animal ambassadors who dig\, crawl and slime their way through life and discover how our Life Sciences team cares for the amazing creatures that call MODS home. It’s a month of slime-filled fun\, wild animal encounters and messy discoveries for all ages! \nBeginning September 12\, explore the PAW PatrolTM: Adventure Play traveling exhibit presented by Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and sponsored by Florida Prepaid College Savings Plan and Chewy Vet Care. On select days\, Chewy Vet Care will also host an interactive Vet Clinic\, where children can step into the role of animal caretakers by practicing empathy and learning how to care for pets and other animals in need. Families will also have the opportunity to meet the brave individuals – both human and furry – who help keep our communities safe and healthy with Meet & Greets\, a Touch-a-Truck Zone and K-9 Demonstrations. PAW Patrol: Adventure Play was produced by The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis in partnership with Nickelodeon.
