Celebrating all things “fandom,” The Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach is hosting its first annual Mandel Fan Fest, a one-day mini-convention on Saturday, May 24 from 12 to 4 p.m., featuring more than 20 local artists and vendors. Whether you’re a manga book enthusiast, an anime devotee, a role-playing game fanatic, or any other type of fan, Mandel Fan Fest is designed for everyone.
Guests will experience local art and vendors celebrating geek culture, plus live drawing sessions, activities for kids, prize drawings throughout the day, and more. Mandel Fan Fest will also feature meet-and-greets with the 501st Legion, an international organization dedicated to celebrating this George Lucas-created universe and other popular characters.
Cosplay is welcome, and a selfie station will be available to capture your best look.
Panelists will highlight various fan-based topics and include Nickie of Tiny Doors WPB and DisNickie; Mei Lin O’Malley of the ArtLife WPB Initiative, “Endless Summer”; Sarah Seado, author of The Houses of Lorian Hollow series; and more.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, including the latest schedule of events, panelists and artists, please visit wpb.org/mandelfanfest or call (561) 868-7760.
