Evelyn, a nurse at St. Mary’s Medical Center and her husband Nick were excited to learn that they were expecting their first child. It was the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic and as first-time parents they felt some nervousness heading into the delivery. However, Evelyn knew firsthand that St. Mary’s Medical Center not only has a nationally recognized obstetrics program, but the hospital also is equipped with a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for high-risk pregnancies (the highest level in the state), making her and her husband feel more at ease.Â
Their new baby boy Theodore arrived healthy and 4 weeks earlier than planned. Evelyn couldn’t imagine experiencing this memorable time without Nick by her side or at any other hospital. All of the medical staff, from the midwives to the doctors, treated them like family and played an important role in helping Evelyn feel comfortable, safe and secure. Even Billy, a dietitian at St. Mary’s made Nick feel extra special, giving him the inside scoop on when fresh cookies were being made!Â
Evelyn also plans to have any future babies at St. Mary’s Medical Center and shares her positive experience with all of her pregnant friends, advising them to go to St. Mary’s to have their babies too.
