Meet the Mom – Erin Guy

Where did you grow up: 

Monticello, Indiana

Town you live in now: 

Jupiter

Why you love living there: 

We have lived in Palm Beach County for almost 10 years and the past 3 1/2 years in Jupiter have been full of growth. We have grown as a family, but we have also loved watching Jupiter grow.  We love the small town feel with plenty to do.

Tell me about your kids: 

We have one daughter named Thea. She is 3 and full of personality. She loves to play outside with the big kids in our neighborhood and anything that involves water. She’s funny and sweet and possesses all of the traditional characteristics of an active 3-year-old. Both good and feisty.

Favorite things to do with the kids locally: 

We love to explore parks. It’s funny some of the more basic parks are her favorite. She loves all things water, so the beach and any splash pad are at the top of our list!

What’s your ‘day job’?  How did you get started with it?

I’m the morning anchor for WPBF 25 News. I help wake people up from 4:30-7am and we have a more community based show from 9-10am.

I’ve been with WPBF for almost 10 years and in this career far longer. My journalist adventure has take me all over the country and somehow I was lucky enough to land in South Florida.

I knew from a young age I had an interest in news. My family always had the news on during the dinner hour. My parents always encouraged me to know what was happening in the world and apparently it stuck.

What is your best parenting advice.  Lay it on us.  

Don’t be afraid to take advice, but remember no family is alike. You have to do what’s best for your life, schedule and family dynamic.

What do you do for self care? 

TJ Maxx! Is that lame? Escaping for a 30 minute shopping excursion is therapeutic for me.
