HEALING:
This is a bone supplement here that our doctor recommended.
This was fantastic at helping manage pain.
This helped with sleeping – and has great minerals for bones.
HYGEINE:
This shower chair is great because it has a spot for the shower wand, a shower wand and cast cover are the way to go. For some smaller casts people have said the umbrella bags at Publix are a perfect fit.
GETTING AROUND:
Ask your doctor for a temporary handicap tag application. Crutching, wheeling, or knee scootering is best saved for short distances.
KEEPING BUSY:
Here is a list of movie recommendations.
Games. Art. Reading. Slime. Air Dry Clay. Legos.
THOUGHTFULLY HELPING:
These were really thoughtful things people did for us.
A quick visit to play a game, watch a movie, take the patient on a walk etc.
A really thoughtful gift was a popcorn machine with kernels since they knew we would be watching many, many movies. Speaking of movies, Palm Beach Moms sent in tons of recommendations – list here.
Sending a meal on their own or through making a meal train.
Family far away sent busy books, slime, games, molding clay, and wide leg pajama shorts sets.
One really lovely thing was a text saying, “hey what can I pick up for you at Whole Foods or anywhere else today?” Friends taking the other kids for playdates was really helpful as well.
