Blue Ridge, Georgia is a perfect spot to enjoy some crisp air, apple picking and watching the leaves change.
Blue Ridge Georgia was spared the impact of the 2024 hurricane season, so they are looking forward to visitors. Just 90 miles north of Atlanta, but a million miles away from it all. The area is filled with delightful options for a romantic get-away, a family vacation, girlfriend’s getaway, guy’s fishing trip, family reunion, the list goes on.

Where to stay:
Hampton Inn downtown is a nice easy option.
This 4 bedroom home sleeps 8 has a hot tub with a view, pool table, and fire pit.
This in town condo is cozy and walkable.
This small resort is a little dated but it is clean, spacious and has an indoor pool.
What to do:
STROLL. Downtown Blue Ridge is an artsy historic little town perfect for strolling. Don’t miss the galleries and old fashioned five and Hucks General Store filled with curiosities. You might be able to catch a show too.
RIDE. Take a ride on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway along the Toccoa River from Blue Ridge to McCaysville (open March -December). Board the train at the historic depot in Blue Ridge. You get a two hour layover in McCaysville perfect for lunch and taking a photo in two states at once on teh The view changes with the seasons. Special trips are planned throughout the year like the Firecracker Special and the Santa Express trips. They also have a new Railbike experience! Get advance tickets this often sells out.
HIKE. Both the Appalachian and Benton MacKaye Trails start at the top of Springer Mountain. There are over 300 miles of hiking trails in the area, including short trails suitable for beginning hikers and families. There are 16 waterfalls – so go chase them!
PICK. Visit Mercier Orchards, is a great spot to pick apples off the tree, buy fresh apple cider and the best fried apple pies. Treat the family to a farm tractor tour and u-pick strawberries, blueberries and apples in season. The Folk Collaborative’s is an apple orchard in McCaysville, an old fashioned apple orchard and fruit market with u-pick apples and more.
ZIP. If your children are 6 or older this is a great way to enjoy the area. Get zipping.
