Local Mom Highlight- Molly Harrington

Where did you grow up: I grew up in Nebraska but lived in NYC for a decade before moving to Florida 3 years ago. 

Town you live in now: Boca Raton, FL

Why you love living there: The beach! I also love the winter weather and the proximity to so many great, coastal cities in Palm Beach. 

Tell me about your kids: I have a daughter named Josephine who is 1.5 years old – she’s independent, sassy and also very sweet.

Favorite things to do with the kids locally: ThePalm Beach Zoo, beach days, Spanish River library, Delray Beach Children’s Garden

What’s your ‘day job’?  How did you get started with it? I am the head of marketing for a women’s professional sports league, but I recently launched a business on the side called MAMASTE (pronounced like “namaste”). It is a collection of gemstone bracelets that honor the divine light in every mother with stones for for all phases of motherhood – and $5 from every bracelet sold goes to the non-profit Every Mother Counts. I got started with the idea when I was newly postpartum with my daughter and realized how challenging, and sometimes isolating, motherhood can be. I wanted to make a product that not only made moms feel special, seen, and honored, but also that gave back to moms in need. 

Ideal family vacation? NYC! Josephine and I head to the city to see friends and family often. 

What is your best parenting advice.  Lay it on us.  Whether things are really amazing or really challenging, just wait five minutes. This is something my mom kept telling me when I was pregnant, and she was right.

What do you do for self care? Yoga (I love Dandelight Studio in Delray Beach), walks on the beach, any challenging fitness class. 

Favorite local spots- restaurants, parks, shops? Louie Bossi, Sixty Vines, Spanish River Park, The SEED.
